4POWER (Interreg IV C) 4POWER (Policy and Public Private Partnerships for Offshore Wind EneRgy) focuses on the role of regions in relation to Offshore wind energy (OSW). While the technological advancement in OSW applications is considerable in industry, the uptake in terms of knowledge and effective policy in Europe’s regional and local governments is still patchy. 4POWER stimulates knowledge exchange between front-runner and lagging regions to create common understanding on current and future regional challenges in OSW development.
EcoRegions (Interreg IV C) The project will seek to facilitate the implementation of 11 cases of Good Practice leading to reduced environmental impact. The identified cases of Good Practice include sustainable energy (biomass, wind, biofuels, photovoltaic, geothermal energy); measurement and monitoring systems; optimization of industrial processes; low carbon vehicles; green chemistry; eco-housing; recycling and valorising wastes; storage of electric energy / batteries; valorisation of CO2.
GreenITNet (Interreg IV C) ICT can contribute to the reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in almost all sectors of society. It has been estimated that "smart" deployment of ICT can decrease the use of electricity by a factor 5 or more. GreenITNet will analyse policies and policy instruments to explore, develop and implement Green IT.
MedAlgae (ENPI CBCMED) The MedAlgae project is focused on the production of biodiesel from microalgae. It involves all stages of the production process including sampling of sea water or fresh water, selection of microalgae, characterization of species, cultivation of microalgae, harvesting, oil extraction and analysis of biodiesel properties.
ELIH-Med (MED Strategic) The ELIH-Med (Energy Efficiency in Low-Income Housing in the Mediterranean) project will work towards the identification of cost effective solutions and innovative public and private financing mechanisms backed with Structural Funds to foster energy efficiency investment in low income housings. The project results will lead to elaborate an operational plan of coordination of European financial instruments in the context of a Mediterranean macro-regional strategy 2014-2020.
Enerscapes (MED Programme) The Enerscapes (Territory, Landscapes and Renewal Energy) project is investigating the impacts that unregulated diffusion of renewable energy technologies could cause on Mediterranean landscapes. By connecting energy and territorial planning, partners will identify suitable strategies for considering ecological, landscape and heritage aspects while setting up RES promotion policies.
LiMIT4WeDA (MED Programme) The Limit4WeDa (Light Mobility and Information Technology for Weak Demand Areas) project is analysing the barriers to increased uptake of public transport and promoting the introduction and utilisation of a number of technologies and processes including integrated ticketing, multiform transport, carpooling, and innovative tariff systems.
MEDEEA (MED Programme) The European Energy Award (eea®) rewards cities and towns with a label for outstanding efforts in the governance of energy related fields (especially energy efficiency). Although more than 450 communities in 10 EU countries are successfully applying the eea®, very few regions have implemented it so far in the Mediterranean. The MEDEEA (Mediterranean Implementation of EEA) project aims to promote the adoption of the eea® awards.
|BUILD UP Skills Malta (IEE) The project aims to address the challenges faced by the construction industry in the achievement of EU’s 2020 energy policy objectives through the development of a roadmap to upgrade relevant skills for the building industry in Malta. The overall objective of the national roadmap is to embed training on intelligent energy solutions for buildings in the mainstream curricula and practice of building professionals, taking into account the expected contribution of the building sector to the national 2020 targets and the requirements for ‘nearly zero energy buildings’. A platform of relevant stakeholders in the field of VET and constructions will be closely involved in the mapping of the national status-quo, definition and endorsment of a roadmap ahead..|| |
